"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

Be Still in a Crazy World

I wrote this devotional for school a couple of days ago and really it spoke to me while i was writing it. Like God took control of my hand and wrote it just for me! I hope it speaks to you guys as well!

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
~Psalm 46:10

To be still seems like a very difficult thing to do these days, since everyone is always on the move. When was the last time this week that you were just quiet or still? Probably not enough times to count on both hands. We get so caught up in our everyday lives that we never think to “be still.”

God wants us to talk with Him and spend time in His presence. He is our best friend, so we should want to talk to Him. Talking with God should be like texting, for example. We are in constant communication with our friends through texting or talking on the phone. It’s so easy to do and we do it without even thinking about it half the time. Why can’t talking with God be that easy? We could just send a “text” up to God and it’s something we shouldn’t have to think about.

When we are still before the Lord, He can work in our life in ways we may not know of. Taking time out of our day to be still can be a challenge. We get up each day and get ready for either work or school. What happened to our time with God? We put Him on the back burner to save for later if we get around to it. At the end of our day, we are too tired to move Him to the front burner, so He stays in the back. Each morning, we should take time to be still because that time with God is like our morning coffee. God gives us the strength to make it through the day. Let’s make it our goal to be still and take time to put God first. After all, He is most important in our life.
